The Return to the Court - 3on3 Tournament 22'
Everything you need to know about the 2022 - 3on3 tournament
Since the global pandemic struck, there has been little to no floorball played within Cambridge, much less the entire country. That all changed when Cambridge FC was able to host their annual 3on3 tournament this past weekend. (Saturday August 20, 2022).
The tournament was a resounding success, seeing 12 teams across 3 different divisions, with large crowds on hand all day long.
If you weren't able to catch any of the games, or follow along through our social media accounts, We have you covered. Here is everything you need to know about the past event, with our tournament recap
A-DIVISION:
Seeing 3 very competitive teams throughout this division, the return to A-division was one that was very anticipated. Seeing members from the Cambridge club team scattered throughout the various teams, each game saw back and forth action, before seeing the top two seeds be placed in the gold medal game.
After seeing a very exciting and dramatic shootout, with big saves and amazing dangles, the Cambridge based team - Net Stix and Chill prevailed 6-5.
B-DIVISION:
The largest division within this returning tournament, there were 6 teams split into 2 pools. Seeing some dramatic and back and forth games, there were many wins and loses in dramatic fashion throughout the day, before seeing the defending champs - Certified Beauties - defeat the up and coming Markham Rangers in another shootout in the finals.
Cambridge Floorball Club members were seen throughout multiple teams within the division and were cited saying that returning to the court was one that they had anticipated greatly throughout the last few months, and are looking forward to the upcoming fall league.
WMNS-DIVISION:
Having 2 teams registered for the women's division, it was decided by the board members that they would combined into the B-division, with a separate women's finals happening near the end of the day. Having both new and veteran players both women's teams held their own throughout the day within the B-Division, seeing them both unfortunately fall short in the quarter finals before facing off against each other in the women's division finals.
The Quick Queens team, seeing a large number of returning Cambridge players on the team, tasted the victory of winning the women's division defeating the newly formed Miway Floorball Club in the finals. Looking to the future Club President Tyler Brush stated that, "we are looking to really grow the women's game in our area, and these two teams are perfect examples on how competitive and fun women's floorball can be. We are looking forward to continuing to grow off this awesome base of women playing the sport".
Moving Forward:
Upon competition of the 3on3 tournament, registration for the upcoming Adult Co-Ed fall league opened and can be found on the Cambridge FC website.
Offering both team and individual registration, this fall league in just another step in the return-to-court plan that the CFC board laid out at the beginning of the summer, and hope to see the continual growth of the club to the size that it once was and beyond that before the pandemic ravaged the globe.
