We are beyond thrilled to share some exciting news that captures the very heart of our sport: this year’s Oxdog Open Floorball Tournament is proudly partnering with Special Olympics Ontario to create an even more inclusive and impactful event.
Within the Cambridge Floorball Club, our mission has always gone beyond competition. We believe in the power of sport to bring people together, break down barriers, and create meaningful opportunities for everyone—regardless of ability. That’s why this partnership means so much to us.
Floorball has been growing rapidly across Ontario, and the Oxdog Open has become a cornerstone of that growth. But what makes the sport truly special is its accessibility. With this partnership, we’re taking a powerful step forward to ensure that athletes with intellectual disabilities are welcomed, celebrated, and given the platform to showcase their skills in front of a vibrant and supportive community.
Special Olympics Ontario has been doing phenomenal work for decades, offering year-round opportunities in sport for athletes across the province. Their commitment to dignity, respect, and joy through sport aligns perfectly with everything we stand for as a club.
This year’s Oxdog Open will feature a Unified Division supported by Special Olympics Ontario, where athletes with and without intellectual disabilities will compete together on the same teams. This is more than a game—it's a celebration of teamwork, friendship, and inclusion.
Spectators can look forward to:
High-energy, fast-paced matches
A showcase of skill from all athletes
Community engagement booths and inclusion-focused activities
Opportunities to learn more about how to get involved with Special Olympics programs locally
We are looking forward to seeing everone on the court soon!
