Sisters Elly and Macy Peters are doing Cambridge FC proud and repping Canada on the World Championships
Sisters Elly and Macy Peters are making Cambridge FC proud, representing their country on the world stage this past week. Playing in the Women's U19 World Championships, the Peters sisters were two key contributors to a young, inexperienced team. Travelling to Poland, the tournament took place from August 31 to September 4, seeing the Peters sister, along with their team, take on New Zealand, Hungary, Italy and Australia through their four game tournament. The sisters left their mark on the world stage through their play, and will be sure to brings their new experiences back to the club to continue help the growth of the game throughout the region.
Elly playing as a forward and Macy playing as a goalie, the two sisters have been staples in the Cambridge FC club for the last number of years, consistently displaying their hard work and skills in various tournaments, leagues and club events that are hosted throughout the year. Cambridge FC is committed to the development of female floorball players and are excited to see the Peters's sisters displaying their skills on the world stage. Through four games, Elly finished the tournament with 2 goals, having a highlight reel goal in their final game against Australia, which helped land her the player of the game award. Macy finished the tournament as the best goalie on the Canadian team with a 81% save percentage through four games. Only allowing 13 goals, Macy was a big part of the success of the team, providing some signature big saves throughout the games, in addition to a big momentum shifting save in a penalty shot against New Zealand early on in the tournament. The two sisters have made Cambridge FC very proud, with board member and Director of Club Communications, Mytchell Brush stating that,
"We are super proud of Macy and Elly for making Cambridge proud on the world stage. We truly think that with the help of these two girls we can continue to grow female floorball in the community, and see many more girls making the club proud"
Arriving home, the Peters sisters will be re-joining the club as they continue to develop and help promote female floorball within the community. All skill and experience levels are welcomed within the club, and the club is always looking for new players through various age categories.
